Through rigorous theoretical <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"186\">analysis, advanced computational fluid <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"225\">dynamics (CFD) simulations, and wind <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"262\">tunnel testing, we meticulously <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"294\">optimize the aerodynamic design to <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"329\">improve its efficiency and stability. <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"367\">Using state-of-the-art numerical <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"400\">simulation software and MATLAB codes <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"437\">developed entirely in-house by our <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"472\">Department, we are able to rigorously <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"510\">validate our sounding rocket designs, <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"548\">ensuring optimal performance by <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"580\">carefully comparing theoretical models <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"619\">with real launch data. The Aerodynamics <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"659\">Department represents one of the Team&#8217;s <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"699\">fundamental pillars, fostering close <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"736\">collaboration with all other <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"765\">departments, including Mission <\/span><span class=\"_animating_1lnon_10\" data-newtext-seq=\"796\">Analysis, Structures, and Our Department handles the development of numerical simulations based on several key phases:<\/p><ul class=\"[li_&amp;]:mb-0 [li_&amp;]:mt-1 [li_&amp;]:gap-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3 print:block print:space-y-1\" dir=\"ltr\"><li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Geometry Definition: we create a digital model of the rocket and its components.<\/li><li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Mesh Generation: we divide the geometry into small elements to solve the equations governing fluid flow.<\/li><li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Solver Setup: we select appropriate mathematical models and algorithms to simulate fluid flow, combustion, and heat transfer within the rocket.<\/li><li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Post-processing: we analyze the simulation results to interpret fluid behavior, temperature distribution, pressure variations, and more.<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">CFD analyses are essential for optimizing rocket designs, predicting aerodynamic forces, and assessing thermal and mechanical stresses. Understanding fluid flows guides the design process to reduce drag and improve performance. CFD simulations enable efficient iteration, accelerating innovation and improving the efficiency of our designs thanks to crucial insights into the rocket model&#8217;s
